In our first Filmmaker Framing, we invite Debra Granik, Academy Award Nominee, Winter’s Bone, and Cinematographer Michael McDonough to discuss their creative process in digital filmmaking to bring their perspective on digital preservation. Digital preservation requires an understanding of the history of motion picture technology and Granik’s filmmaking has been influenced by the legacies of documentary and social realism. Granik and McDonough speak frankly on how that informs some of the technical filmmaking choices they’ve made.
