Temp Dubs

General Notes and Recommendations

  • Archiving Temp Dubs is important for potential future versions of the movie. Usually these contain work done on sections of the movie that may have been cut for the initial release, but would be candidates for a future “special” release. Having the temp dubs allows those scenes to have a starting point rather than being built up from scratch later and also preserves the original intent.
  • It is not necessary to keep all temp dubs. The most important temp dubs to keep are the ones that were created for specific audience previews, as those will be what will be viewed later. These are often referenced by preview location and date.
  • Each temp version archived should have Stems and Printmasters at a minimum. Sound Editorial and Mix Sessions are a plus.
